Qatari Newspapers Call for Diplomatic Efforts in Regional Tensions and International Action Against Israeli Escalation

Doha: In their editorials, Qatari newspapers highlighted a number of emerging issues on both the local and international fronts. It focused mainly on the importance of continuing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region and to push toward resuming negotiations between the United States and Iran.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Sharq newspaper expressed that despite the announcement of the end of the negotiations held between the United States and Iran in Pakistan without an agreement, and the departure of the American and Iranian delegations from Islamabad, the failure to reach an agreement in this first round should not halt Pakistani efforts or those of other mediating countries.

In this regard, the newspaper stressed that Qatars position remains consistent in supporting all diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and ensuring the return of stability to the region, based on its belief that dialogue and diplomacy are the optimal path for resolving crises. It added that this consistent stance has previously been expressed by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, during a phone call with Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in which His Highness affirmed his support for Pakistans efforts to contain the escalation.

Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by stating that Qatars supportive stance toward dialogue and diplomacy prioritizes the interests of the peoples of the region and international peace and security, in addition to strengthening global economic stability by ending the war and ensuring the security of maritime routes and the freedom of navigation and international trade in accordance with the rules of international law.

Regarding current developments, Al-Watan newspaper, in its editorial, devoted significant attention to the ongoing Israeli military escalation in Lebanon, calling for firm international action to halt the crimes of the Israeli entity. The newspaper stated that the barbaric Israeli attacks targeting various parts of Lebanon represent a dangerous criminal escalation, adding to the Israeli entity's dark record against this Arab country and the region as a whole. What is happening, it said, requires a clear international stance that goes beyond mere condemnation to decisive and firm measures that would compel the occupying force to stop its attacks, withdraw unconditionally from all Lebanese territories, and pay compensation for all the destruction it has caused.

It added that this brutal and unjust aggression has targeted wide areas across Lebanon, constituting a blatant new violation of the sovereignty of the Lebanese Republic, the rules of international humanitarian law, and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. All of this, the paper stressed, calls for international intervention and the assumption of responsibility to compel the Israeli occupation authorities to stop their brutal massacres and repeated attacks on Lebanon, and to abide by international conventions and laws.

Al-Watan concluded its editorial by stating that this once again confirms the malicious role played by Israel in spreading chaos and instability without the slightest regard for international laws, charters, and agreements. It added that the assassination of journalist Mohammed Washah in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday evening further demonstrates the extent to which Israel has descended while carrying out what it described as brutal crimes.
