Qatari Newspapers Highlight Web Summit Qatar 2025 and International Praise

Doha: Qatari newspapers addressed several topics in their Tuesday editorials that emerged from the local and Arab fronts. Most importantly, the work of the second edition of the Web Summit Qatar 2025 was discussed, as it is regarded as a global platform for innovation and entrepreneurship. The newspapers also referred to the wide international praise that Qatar receives, including from the United Nations, for its prominent role in supporting humanitarian issues in general, its standing by the Palestinian people, and its ongoing efforts to achieve peace in the region.

According to Qatar News Agency, another topic the newspapers highlighted was Qatar’s participation in the Disarmament Conference in Geneva, based on its firm belief in the necessity of supporting all efforts aimed at disarmament in the world, a belief that is becoming increasingly entrenched in light of the increasing crises and conflicts around the world.

For its part, Al Watan newspaper said in its Tuesday editorial that with the second edition of the Web Summit Qatar 2025, Qatar held firm its position as a global platform for innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as strengthens its commitment to supporting emerging companies. The paper noted that Qatar fulfilled its commitment during the first edition of the Web Summit Qatar 2024, in establishing a USD one billion Fund of Funds to support these companies, as referenced by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani on Sunday during the opening of the summit.

His Excellency confirmed that Qatar witnesses an economic transformation led by the private sector, supported by an advanced business environment and unprecedented investment facilities, the newspaper reported. With the complete modernization of the economic environment, Qatar is positioning itself as the first regional destination for start-up companies by building an environment that enables companies to innovate and grow, supported by research and development centers.

Concluding its editorial, Al Watan pointed out that this summit witnesses the participation of a record number of Qatari startups, totaling 228 companies, which represents a key factor in shaping the future of Qatar, and reflects the importance of the Web Summit Qatar as a major platform for enhancing growth and investment opportunities. Qatar is also witnessing an increasing demand from start-ups and investment funds that have chosen to launch their businesses or move their headquarters to Doha, which enhances its position as a regional center for innovation and technology.

In turn, Al Raya newspaper confirmed that Qatar seeks to be a global platform that incubates emerging technology companies that rely on technological innovation to achieve their growth, by stimulating the building of a promising market for early adoption opportunities for technology developed in Qatar. This will enhance the demand for the innovation and scientific research system, stimulate the participation of local companies based on experimental research and development, and support emerging companies in order to localize talents and specialists in the field of innovation in the business sector, and open the door for everyone to enter the economy of the future.

Al Raya explained that Qatar continues to strengthen its position as a global platform for innovation and entrepreneurship, and is witnessing an economic transformation led by the private sector, supported by an advanced business environment and unprecedented investment facilities. It pointed out that there are ambitious plans and qualitative initiatives taken by Qatar to expand the positive benefit from innovative technology within its strategic approach to digital transformation through the Digital Agenda 2030.

The newspaper concluded by saying that Qatar made great strides in the world of digital transformation and development of the information and communications technology sector, and has taken many initiatives aimed at enhancing research and development, increasing the country’s competitiveness, and keeping pace with the latest digital skills, which has led to a qualitative leap in global indicators thanks to its continuous efforts in developing the entrepreneurship environment.
