Doha: In its editorial, Al-Sharq newspaper emphasized Qatar’s participation in the Conference on Disarmament (CD) held in Geneva, highlighting it as part of Qatar’s strong belief in supporting global disarmament efforts. This commitment is underscored by the increasing global crises, conflicts, and threats to international security.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Sharq highlighted that Qatar’s involvement in key international disarmament agreements, its efforts to update national legislation on weapons of mass destruction, and its plans to host significant forums on arms control and disarmament in 2024 reflect its dedication to international disarmament measures. The newspaper noted Qatar’s consistent support for establishing a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East as crucial for regional stability.
Al-Arab, in its editorial, praised Qatar’s international recognition, including from the United Nations, for its humanitarian efforts and support for the Palestinian people. It cited remarks by Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher, who lauded Qatar as a leading partner in global humanitarian initiatives.
