Qatar’s Crucial Role in Humanitarian Efforts Amid Global Political Complexity

Doha: HE Director of International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Sheikha Hanouf bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani emphasized the significance of the “Humanitarian Impact Forum 2025,” whose identity was unveiled by Qatar Charity on Sunday. The forum aims to unite non-governmental organizations, donors, and United Nations partners to advance humanitarian work and aid delivery.

According to Qatar News Agency, Her Excellency highlighted the unprecedented political complexity faced by the world today, where geopolitical crises intersect with humanitarian and economic challenges, leading to instability in many regions. This situation is further compounded by emerging issues such as climate change, health crises, and the worsening of poverty and hunger.

Her Excellency noted that Qatar’s involvement extends beyond political affairs, encompassing humanitarian efforts to facilitate aid delivery and innovate sustainable solutions. Between 2020 and 2024, Qatar provided humanitarian aid totaling around USD 2.7 billion.

In a related note, Her Excellency acknowledged the role of United Nations organizations in aiding the entry and distribution of humanitarian assistance, fostering mutual experience and collaboration.

Sheikha Hanouf emphasized that Qatar collaborates with UN bodies, including the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), not merely as a donor and beneficiary but as essential partners in delivering aid to the most vulnerable.

Addressing preventive diplomacy, she remarked that it is a cornerstone of Qatar’s foreign policy. She advocated for developing plans to avert potential crises, which is more effective than finding solutions post-crisis.

During her participation in a session titled “Bridging Boundaries: Collaborative Solutions for Humanitarian Access in Complex Political Landscapes,” she discussed the humanitarian impact of political crises. She stressed that the repercussions are not solely economic or infrastructural but also significantly psychological, necessitating solutions to ensure a dignified life and address the psychological toll on affected individuals.
