Qatar’s Industrial Sector PPI Drops by 14.90% in January 2026

Doha: The general Producer Price Index (PPI) for Qatar's industrial sector reached 97.02 points in January 2026, marking a 4.03% decrease compared to December 2025. On an annual basis, the index recorded a 14.90% drop compared to January 2025.

According to Qatar News Agency, the National Planning Council revealed that the Mining and Quarrying PPI experienced a 4.17% decrease in January 2026 from the previous month. This decline was primarily due to a 4.17% reduction in prices of Crude Petroleum and Natural Gas, while prices in Other Mining and Quarrying remained unchanged. Year-on-year, the Mining and Quarrying PPI dropped by 18.23%, mainly due to an 18.25% decrease in Crude Petroleum and Natural Gas and a 0.10% decrease in Other Mining and Quarrying.

The Manufacturing PPI showed a decrease of 2.65% in January 2026 compared to December 2025. This change was due to price declines in six groups, an increase in one group, while one remained unchanged. Chemicals and Chemical Products fell by 3.94%, Basic Metals by 2.03%, Refined Petroleum Products by 0.46%, Beverages by 0.32%, Cement and other Non-Metallic Mineral Products by 0.24%, and Rubber and Plastics Products by 0.20%. In contrast, Food Products increased by 2.68%, and Printing and Reproduction of Recorded Media remained flat. Compared to January 2025, the Manufacturing PPI in January 2026 increased by 2.29%, with notable rises in Chemicals and Chemical Products by 8.34%, Food Products by 1.11%, and Printing and Reproduction of Recorded Media by 0.16%. However, declines were observed in Refined Petroleum Products by 9.34%, Basic Metals by 5.13%, Rubber and Plastics Products by 3.66%, Beverages by 3.35%, and Cement and other Non-Metallic Mineral Products by 1.41%.

The Electricity sector PPI decreased by 0.11% in January 2026 compared to December 2025, and saw a 0.58% year-on-year decline. Meanwhile, the Water sector PPI dropped by 27.12% in January 2026 from the previous month and recorded a 13.06% decrease compared to January 2025.
