Doha: The 2024-2025 Qatar Stars League (QSL) Cup witnessed a series of competitive matches on Sunday during Round 5 of Group A's group stage. The group consists of teams including Al Duhail, Al Rayyan, Al Arabi, Al Ahli, Qatar SC, and Al Shahaniya. According to Qatar News Agency, Al Ahli secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Al Rayyan at the Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium, a result that enabled them to advance to the quarterfinals. Both Al Ahli and Al Rayyan concluded the group stage with seven points each. However, Al Duhail and Al Arabi topped the group standings with 10 points apiece, leaving Qatar SC with three points and Al Shahaniya with two points at the bottom. The goals for Al Ahli were netted by Erik Exposito through an 11th-minute penalty, Mohammed Emad in the 67th minute, and Matej Mitrovic in the 75th minute. Meanwhile, Al Rayyan's goals came from Tameem Mansour Al Abdulla in the 24th minute and Abdulrahman Al Harazi in the 37th minute. In another match, Qatar SC and Al Arabi ended in a goalless dra w at the Al Khor Stadium. This match saw Al Arabi elevate their score to 10 points, sharing the same number of points as Al Duhail, but trailing on goal difference. Consequently, Al Duhail and Al Arabi, along with Al Rayyan and Al Ahli, advanced to the quarterfinals from Group A. The final match of the day saw Al Duhail face Al Shahaniya at the Grand Hamad Stadium, ending in a 1-1 draw. Al Shahania, with two points, failed to progress to the quarterfinals, finishing the group stage at the bottom. Pelle van Amersfoort scored a late equalizer for Al Shahania in the 90+6 minute, following Ahmed Abdelmaksoud's opening goal for Al Duhail in the 27th minute. Al Duhail, already assured of their place in the next stage, played without pressure in this encounter.
