Doha: The Russian army announced on Monday that it has taken control of a new village in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, as its forces engage in intense clashes in several areas of eastern Ukraine and the Russian border region of Kursk.
According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that during operations carried out by the “South” group of the Russian army, the town of Krakhove, the largest area in the southwestern part of Donetsk, was captured.
The statement noted that during two months of fighting near Krakhove, the average daily losses of the Ukrainian armed forces ranged between 150 and 180 soldiers, including dead and wounded.
Reports from Russia and Ukraine have been conflicting regarding the realities on the ground since the start of Russia’s military operation against Ukraine in February 2022.
