A Russian passenger plane made an emergency landing in a wheat field near a village in the Russian province of Novosibirsk on Tuesday after it issued a distress signal due to a defect in the hydraulic system, according to local emergency services.
Novosibirsk Governor Andrei Travnikov said that according to preliminary information, around 170 people, including 23 children, were on board the Uralsky Avialenyi (Ural Airlines), and no one was injured during the landing.
All passengers on the plane were evacuated and are currently undergoing a medical examination, according to the Russian Emergency Department.
Earlier, an Airbus 'A320' passenger plane carrying out a flight from Sochi to Omsk failed to land at its destination airport and issued a distress signal.
Novosibirsk airport reported that the aircraft had been directed to a replacement airport in Novosibirsk for "technical reasons".
The governor of Omsk province Vitaliy Khotsenko later explained that the aircraft made an emergency landing in Novosibirsk due to a defect in the hydraulic system.
