Doha: The Shura Council held its regular weekly session at the Tamim bin Hamad Hall at the Shura Council’s headquarters, chaired by HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim. The session commenced with HE Shura Council Secretary-General Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud reading the agenda, followed by the approval of the minutes from the previous session.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Council approved a draft law that amends certain provisions of Law No. (20) of 2018, which pertains to the regulation of tourism. Additionally, a draft law amending some provisions of Law No. (21) of 2018 related to the regulation of business events was also approved. These drafts have been referred to the government for further consideration after reviewing the report from the Council’s Education, Culture, Sports, and Information Affairs Committee.
The session also included a review of a draft law regarding support for innovation and scientific research, which was referred by the government. The Council decided to forward this draft to the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee for further study.
Moreover, two reports were reviewed during the session. The first report concerned the Council’s participation in the Third International Forum “Women of the Third Millennium” held in Moscow last November. The second report detailed participation in the Parliamentary Forum during the 10th edition of the Rome MED – Mediterranean Dialogues in Rome, Italy, also held last November.
