Shura Council Commends Qatari Unity Amid Iranian Aggression

Doha: The Shura Council, during its regular weekly session at its headquarters in the Tamim Bin Hamad Hall, under the leadership of HE Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, lauded the steadfastness and unity of Qatari society in confronting what it termed "blatant Iranian aggression" that began against Qatar on February 28.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Shura Council praised the Qatari Armed Forces and security agencies for their readiness and professionalism in protecting the nation and ensuring its security and stability. The Council emphasized that national unity and social cohesion are crucial defenses against challenges and highlighted the historical unity of the Qatari people behind their leadership as a key factor in overcoming crises and achieving national development.

The Council stated that, despite the challenges, Qatar remains stable due to the efforts of the government, guided by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The Amir's directives have ensured a coordinated action plan that maintains service delivery and responds promptly to developments.

Moreover, the Council highlighted that popular solidarity and national interests are vital in strengthening Qatar's resilience against aggression. It condemned the Iranian attacks, describing them as violations of Qatar's sovereignty and international law. The Council noted that these attacks have endangered civilians and targeted critical infrastructure, with a significant portion aimed at civilian and energy facilities.

The Council rejected any justification for the Iranian attacks, reiterating Qatar's commitment to dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution. It expressed dismay at Iran's continued aggression, calling for an end to hostilities and a focus on regional security and understanding.

The Shura Council welcomed a recent United Nations resolution condemning Iranian attacks in the region, viewing it as an international consensus against Iran's actions. The Council called on the international community to address these violations and work towards regional stability.

Furthermore, the Council warned of the broader implications of Iranian actions on global security and economy, citing threats to maritime security and global supply chains. It referenced a World Food Programme warning about the impact on food security in the Middle East due to the conflict.

In the session, HE the Speaker extended Eid Al-Fitr greetings to HH the Amir and the people of Qatar, wishing for continued peace and prosperity. The Council proceeded with its agenda and made necessary decisions.
