Doha: The Shura Council convened its regular weekly session at the Tamim bin Hamad Hall, chaired by HE Speaker of the Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Council extended congratulations to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on the commencement of Ramadan, wishing prosperity and blessings for Qatar and the Arab and Islamic nations. Concurrently, the Council condemned the occupation authorities’ decision to block humanitarian aid into Gaza, labeling it a breach of the ceasefire and international laws.
The Council stressed the need for international parliamentary collaboration to ensure the unimpeded flow of relief. HE Speaker Al Ghanim cited Article (70) of the First Additional Protocol of 1977 and Red Cross Rules (55) and (56), advocating the unobstructed delivery of aid.
During the session, HE Shura Council Secretary-General Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud presented the agenda, and prior session minutes were approved. The Council examined a draft law on water, submitted by the government, forwarding it to the Health, Public Services, and Environment Affairs Committee for further analysis.
Additionally, the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee’s report on enhancing the tourism economy was reviewed, with the Council reaching a decision. The session also recapped the Council’s participation in parliamentary events, including a symposium on the Arms Trade Treaty and a legislative meeting of the Arab Parliament in Cairo.
