Shura Council condemns Israeli bombing of Al-Ahly Baptist Hospital in Gaza

Manama, The Shura Council expressed condemnation and strong denunciation of the Israeli bombing of Al-Ahly Baptist Hospital in Gaza, which resulted in the death and injury of hundreds of innocent civilians.

The council expressed its condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims and to the Palestinian people and wished those injured a speedy recovery.

The Shura Council stressed Bahrain's stance and its call to the international community to urgently intervene to establish a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensure respect for international humanitarian law, secure hospitals, housing, and civilian facilities, provide protection for civilians, and open urgent humanitarian corridors to bring aid into the Gaza Strip.

The council noted that the continuation of fighting and clashes in the Gaza Strip would undermine security and stability in the region, and negatively affect the efforts that aim to bring a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

The Shura Council emphasised support for regional and international efforts that would de-escalate the situation and end violence and escalation.

The council affirmed the firm position of Bahrain in supporting the Palestinian Cause and the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution, the Arab Peace Initiative, and international legitimacy resolutions.
