Manama, Ahmed Bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, attended the opening of of the Second Arab Parliamentary Media Forum: "Artificial Intelligence and its Role in Parliamentary Performance: Opportunities and Challenges". In his speech, he highlighted that the Kingdom of Bahrain, in line with the royal directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, gives priority to parliamentary work and believes strongly in the role of media supporting the comprehensive development process. The Speaker noted that the forum coincided with the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty the King's accession to the throne, in addition to the selection of Manama as the Arab Media Capital 2024. He emphasised that the event provides an opportunity for exchanging expertise and experiences and creates a space to learn about up-to-date practices in modern media developments and tools, with th e emergence of AI and the importance of its use. Al Musallam highlighted that the topic of AI as the title of this forum reflects the importance of investing in technology to improve the efficiency of legislative and oversight processes. He said it provides advanced analytical tools that help anticipate the social and economic impact of proposed legislation, and to enhance interaction between the representatives and citizens, in addition to achieving the highest levels of transparency in parliamentary work. The Speaker emphasised the importance of maximising the role of professional media to support parliamentary work and enhance the culture of positive engagement in building nations and society. The forum aims to shed light on the role of AI in improving the efficiency of legislative and oversight processes and adapting them to provide accurate tools that enable the detection of the effects of legislation laws.
