Speaker hails royal pardon decree

Manama, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, expressed appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, for issuing a royal decree pardoning inmates who have been convicted for riot and criminal cases, on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty's accession to the throne and Eid Al Fitr. Al Musallam affirmed that the decree reflected His Majesty's keenness to maintain the cohesion and stability of Bahraini society, while protecting its social fabric, upholding the public interest, safeguarding individual and civil rights, and adhering to the principles of justice, the rule of law, and the preservation of judicial independence. He pointed out that it also reiterated HM the King's commitment to offer the pardoned individuals the opportunity to re-integrate into society and contribute to development. The Speaker hailed the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in realising the royal vision for enhancing human rights in the kingdom. He also expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs,and Endowments, the Public Prosecution, for their efforts in upholding human rights, enforcing law, and protecting the society.
