Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives Aguila Saleh discussed Saturday night with Special Representative for Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Abdoulaye Bathily the latest developments in the political situation in Libya, especially the efforts made to hold presidential and parliamentary elections, foremost among which are the findings of the Joint Committee "6+6" for Preparing Electoral Laws.
During the meeting, the Speaker of the House of Representatives stressed the need to form a unified government in the country whose primary mission is to hold elections.
In turn, the UN Special Representative explained that more efforts and consultations must be made to achieve the electoral entitlement in response to the desire of the Libyan people.
Presidential and legislative elections was scheduled to be held in Libya in Dec. 2021, but they were postponed indefinitely due to disagreements between political parties.
