The Communications and Media Commission discusses with the International Telecommunication Union supporting digital transformation in Iraq

The Chairman of the Communications and Media Commission, Ali Al-Moayyad, met with the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, Doreen Bogdan Martin, on the sidelines of Iraq's participation in the Future Summit held in New York. The meeting, according to a statement by the Commission, discussed the efforts of Iraqi official institutions in the fields of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, electronic payment, and banking reforms that are in line with global technological developments. Al-Moayyad stressed, during the meeting, the importance of the International Union's support for Iraq, especially in light of the presence of a youth community that keeps pace with all developments taking place in the world. The issue of the digital gap in Iraq and ways to reduce it were also addressed, in addition to comprehensive service projects and ongoing developments in the communications and information technology sector. Al-Moayyad called on the Union to support inno vation and creativity in Iraq, with a focus on training human resources, especially youth, and supporting the private sector and emerging projects. The Chairman of the Communications and Media Commission extended an official invitation to Bogdan Martin to visit Iraq to support digital transformation efforts in the country. For her part, Martin affirmed the International Union's full support for Iraq and the activities carried out by the Communications and Media Commission. She expressed her admiration for the Commission's work in developing the communications and information technology sector, and stressed the Union's continued support in the areas of policies, regulations, and monitoring the transformations taking place in Iraq.
