The Minister of Interior, Abd al-Amir al-Shammari, stressed the need for the leaders of the governorates of Nineveh, Salah al-Din, and Anbar to prepare to fully take over the security file during the next year.
A statement of the Ministry of Interior stated that Al-Shammari chaired a security meeting to listen to the monthly briefing of all the joints and formations of the ministry, in the presence of the undersecretaries of police and intelligence affairs, the advanced staff in the ministry, the commander of Baghdad operations, its police commanders, and police commanders in the governorates via television.
The minister stressed the speed in executing arrest warrants and not being complacent, directing the reorganization of security sectors in some areas, while praising the governorates in which there was a decrease in the crime rate.
He also ordered an evaluation of the work of police stations, stressing that they take on their security role, by improving their reality.
He directed the leaders to follow up the operations centers in the governorates, and to activate rescue and speed patrols by responding to calls, and directed the General Traffic Directorate to analyze recent accidents and address the causes.
In another axis, the minister stressed the need for the leaders of the provinces of Nineveh, Salah al-Din and Anbar to prepare to fully receive the security file during the next year, and to work on evaluating the directors of the emergency departments and police stations during the coming period.
The minister also emphasized the follow-up of clan conflicts, the arrest of all those who use weapons in them, and the absolute lack of complacency in this matter.
At the end of the meeting, the minister discussed the security measures taken to secure the visit of the anniversary of the death of the Messenger, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace, in Najaf during the coming days, and repeat the security success that was achieved in the Arbaeen visit.
