The Presidency of the Iraqi Turkmen Front confirmed the existence of prior information indicating the intentions of outlaw groups to burn the large market in Kirkuk. It said in a statement that the Front would like to clarify to international and national public opinion that the Kirkuk Governorate Police Command had received a telegram dated 17/5, containing the intention of outlaw groups to start a fire in the markets of the city of Kirkuk (as stated in the documents received), and despite Directions to the Provincial Police Command. However, the security breach that occurred on 19/ 5 through the massive fire in the large market in downtown Kirkuk, which harmed the public interests of the citizens and their honorable families, proves the existence of failure on the part of the police leadership in carrying out its duties. It said that the fact that these terrorist groups carried out their threats in this way confirms the presence of laxity in security performance and the direct targeting of the people of K irkuk, despite the presence of security directives to take the necessary measures. The Iraqi Turkmen Front called on the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of the Interior, to take urgent measures to hold all negligent parties accountable, and to open an urgent investigation to uncover those involved and complicit in these violations, which we consider to be terrorism targeting the security of the city and an attempt to undermine coexistence, stability, and social peace among its components. The Turkmen Front also demands the Prime Minister must expedite compensation for shop owners for the damages they suffered. Source: National Iraqi News Agency
