Transport min. reiterates great importance attached to maritime sector

Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir Sunday emphasized that the political leadership attaches great significance to the maritime transport sector, which is deemed a driving force of development and a key pillar of the national economy. The minister was delivering the inaugural speech at the International Maritime Transport and Logistics Conference (MARLOG-13), which is organized by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AAST) Egypt has been keen on upgrading its ports and equipping them with-cutting-edge techniques in order to facilitate and speed up the transportation of goods by sea, the minister said Themed 'Towards Smart Green Blue Infrastructure', the 13th edition of MRLOG conference brings together a galaxy of experts in the fields of ports, logistics, sustainability, and technology to discuss the latest trends and innovations in sustainable infrastructure. Held between March 3-5, the event will discuss the role of technology in sustainable ports and logistics, the importan ce of public-private partnerships in sustainability initiatives, the role of education and training in sustainability as well as the importance of international cooperation in sustainability.
