The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Cyprus on Monday held a virtual meeting on Expo 2020 Dubai, which is slated to take place in Dubai from 1 October 2021 until 31 March 2022.
The meeting was hosted by the UAE Ambassador to Cyprus, His Excellency Sultan Ahmed Ghanem Al Suwaidi, and attended by Omar Shehadeh, Chief International Participants Officer at Expo 2020 Dubai, and Marios Panayides, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry.
In his speech, His Excellency the Ambassador said, “The leadership of our two countries is aware of the high strategic value of UAE-Cyprus relations and is continuously working to further develop and strengthen bilateral ties based on mutual respect.”
His Excellency added that “Expo 2020 Dubai’s theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ is indeed what the UAE leadership is striving for to benefit the UAE and rest of the world.”
For his part, Omar Shehadeh remarked, “The UAE aims to connect minds around the globe, and Expo 2020 Dubai is based on three subthemes: sustainability, mobility, and opportunity. »
Marios Panayides spoke about Cyprus’ participation in Expo 2020 Dubai and its agenda in the event. “We aim to fully capitalize on this opportunity, having set up a noteworthy pavilion featuring a multisensory experience and organizing targeted initiatives led by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, including cultural performances, press conferences, and seminars with local tourist agents,” he noted.
