UN Rapporteur Warns of Potential Israeli Genocide in West Bank

New York: The UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, has issued a stark warning about the possibility of Israel committing genocide in the West Bank, similar to actions in the Gaza Strip. The warning was conveyed through a post on the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, where Albanese addressed the recent aggression by Israeli occupation forces in the city of Jenin and its camp.

According to Qatar News Agency, Albanese emphasized the severity of the situation, stating that if the international community does not intervene, Israel’s actions against Palestinians may extend beyond Gaza. Her remarks underline the urgency of the situation, suggesting a continuation or expansion of hostilities could lead to further loss of life.

The recent escalation in Jenin has resulted in the deaths of 10 Palestinian civilians, including a child. The number of injuries reported has surpassed 40, highlighting the intensity and human cost of the ongoing conflict. Albanese’s comments reflect growing concerns about the potential for broader violence in the region and call for immediate action to prevent further tragedies.
