Arab League Ministerial Council Endorses Decision on Syria

Doha, July 23 (QNA) - The Arab League Ministerial Council endorsed at its extraordinary meeting, held last night in Doha, the decision on Syria submitted to it by the Arab Ministerial Committee on the Situation in  Syria.
 Kuwait Deputy Primer and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, who is also Chairman of the Arab Ministerial Council's current session, said at a press conference he held after the Council's meeting that the decision strongly condemns the heinous crimes which the Syrian government forces and its affiliate militia commit, the last of which was the 'Treimsa crime' which amounts to  crimes against humanity.
 He added that the decision calls on the Syrian government to adhere to its pledges to halt all forms of violence, and also included a call on the Syrian president to give up power with the Arab League  guaranteeing him and his family a secured exit, in order to stem the bloodshed in Syria and to maintain the components of the Syrian state, its unity, territorial integrity and social fabric, and to grantee a peaceful transition of power. 
 According to the minister, the decision also assigned the Arab Group in New York to call an emergency meeting of the United Nations General Assembly to recommend collective procedures to address the deteriorating situation in Syria, which threatens the stability of Syria and the region around it, as well as international peace and security.
