Manama, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Undersecretary of the Cabinet Affairs Ministry and Honorary President of the Good Word Society, met with Hassan Bu Hazza, President of the Arab Union for Voluntary Work and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Good Word Society. During the meeting, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali received the 2023 annual report on the Union's achievements and reviewed preparations for the 14th edition of the Shaikh Isa bin Ali Award for Voluntary Work. His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali said that Bahrain has exerted significant efforts in promoting voluntary work, supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Their support has fostered volunteerism as a cornerstone of societal progress. The award aims to promote the culture of volunteering and its role in sustainable development. His Highness emphasised the continuous and remarkable de velopment of voluntary work in Bahrain, reflecting the nation's deep rooted values of solidarity and community service. His Highness noted Bahrain's rich heritage in voluntary work, highlighting the commitment and dedication of its citizens. Over the past years, the award has fostered positive competition among volunteers in Bahrain and the Arab world, evolving into a prestigious regional accolade. His Highness also commended the role of civil society organisations in community development and the promotion of voluntary work, highlighting the efforts of the Good Word Society in this field. The Shaikh Isa bin Ali Award for Voluntary Work is presented annually in September, coinciding with Arab Volunteer Day on September 15. Organised by the Good Word Society in cooperation with the Arab Voluntary Union, the award recognises innovative volunteer projects and significant contributions to community development. This year, the award will honour leading volunteers and outstanding voluntary projects, as well as a prominent national institution for its impact on social development in Bahrain.
