183 Palestinians Evacuated from Gaza via Rafah Crossing for Treatment Abroad

Rafah: One hundred and eighty-three Palestinians, including patients and their chaperones, left the Gaza Strip on Sunday through the Rafah border crossing as part of a medical evacuation to receive treatment and healthcare outside the Strip.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society announced that the operation included 57 patients and 81 chaperones, totaling 183 people, as part of coordinated efforts led by the World Health Organization.

The Society detailed that its teams transported the patients and their chaperones by ambulance from its Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis to the Rafah crossing, in preparation for their travel abroad for treatment.

It stated that its involvement in this operation is driven by its humanitarian role, especially considering the worsening health conditions and the considerable strain on the medical system in the Gaza Strip.

The Rafah crossing was partially reopened by Israeli authorities in early February 2026. This reopening allowed the exit of patients and the wounded, along with the return of some Palestinians, under specific Israeli security conditions and procedures. It was a component of the second phase of a ceasefire agreement that began in October 2025.
