Doha: The 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum officially launched the 321 Esports Lounge, the world's first dedicated esports space housed within an Olympic museum.
According to Qatar News Agency, the launch of the 321 Esports Lounge reflects the growing interest in esports and strengthens the State of Qatar's position as a regional hub for sports and tech innovation. The lounge, situated on the 7th floor of the museum, aims to be a permanent and accessible entertainment and development hub. It is designed for everyone from first-time players to national-level athletes, contributing to the discovery of young talents and the development of skills.
Director of the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic Sports Museum, Abdulla Al Mulla, highlighted that the launch comes amid the electronic gaming sector's rapid growth globally, offering investment, sporting, and cultural opportunities. The sector also attracts young people and enhances digital innovation, aligning with Qatar's vision for advancing modern creative and technological sectors.
Al Mulla noted the increasing popularity of esports in Qatar and globally, describing it as a platform that combines innovation, technology, creativity, and competitiveness. He mentioned that the museum would begin the first phase of esport programs linked to the Olympic Games. The International Olympic Committee has taken advanced steps toward including esports in the upcoming Olympic Games, which reflects the significant global growth of the sector.
He added that the lounge was specially designed to serve as a hub for professional players and creative students to meet, compete, and learn. It also serves as an incubator for young talents and aims to develop esports in Qatar, with the hope that it will become a landmark for the sector in the country.
