4.7-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Duhok in Northern Iraq

An earthquake measuring 4.7 magnitude on the Richter scale hit on Monday west of the Amadiya area in Duhok Governorate, northern Iraq.

The Iraqi Ministry of Transport stated that the seismic observatory at the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic monitored an earthquake measuring 4.7 magnitude, which was felt by some citizens in Duhok and Mosul.

There were no reports of casualties, the ministry added.

An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck Khanaqin district in Diyala Governorate, northeastern Iraq, in May.
