5.1-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes South Sandwich Islands

An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck the South Sandwich Islands.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that the epicenter of the earthquake occurred at a depth of 35 km.

So far, there have been no reports of material or human losses as a result of the earthquake.

The South Sandwich Islands is a chain of islands in the South Atlantic Ocean. They are administered as a part of the British Overseas Territory of South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands.
