Caribbean Sea: An earthquake measuring 7.6 magnitude on the Richter scale struck the central Caribbean Sea, the US Geological Survey (USGS) announced, prompting tsunami warnings in Cuba, Honduras, and the Cayman Islands.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) said waves could reach 3 m (10 ft) high on the Cuban coast and could reach 1 m (3 ft) in Honduras and the Cayman Islands. Nine other countries were initially placed on alert before the estimates were later revised.
In mid-November, Cuba experienced two strong earthquakes off its southern coast, without reports of any injuries or tsunami warnings.
