Russian astronaut Oleg Kononenko became the first person in human history to spend a thousand days in space. The Russian Space Agency (Roscosmos) noted that Kononenko, who is currently working on the International Space Station, set his record at 12:20 today, Moscow time. This is the fifth space flight for the Russian astronaut, which began on September 15, 2023 aboard the Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft with Russian astronauts Nikolai Chub and American Laural O'Hara. O'Hara returned to Earth on April 6 with Russian Oleg Novitsky and Belarusian Marina Vasilevskaya. Kononenko is scheduled to return to Earth next September 23 with Nikolai Chub and American Tracy Dyson.
