Baghdad / NINA/ -The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, confirmed today, Saturday, the League’s categorical rejection of any form of forced transfer of Palestinians from the north of the Gaza Strip to its south.
During his meeting with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock in Cairo today, he indicated that the League opposes collective punishment of Palestinians in a manner that blatantly violates international humanitarian law.
Aboul Gheit stressed "the need to work in concert at the international level in order to prevent the continuation of a massacre in Gaza, senice the spiral of violence and revenge will not bring security or peace in the long term."
He continued: "The fundamental and inescapable problem is the continuation of the occupation and the blockage of the political horizon, and what is happening makes peace even more unattainable."
For her part, Baerbock asked Aboul Gheit to resolve the crisis of German detainees in the Gaza Strip.
For his part, Arab League spokesman Counselor Jamal Rushdi said: “The meeting (between Aboul Gheit and Annalena Baerbock) witnessed a consensus on the necessity of protecting the civilian population in the Gaza Strip from Israeli military action, and the importance of introducing humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip to prevent further deterioration of the situation.”/ End
