Al Gharafa Coach Confident Ahead of Amir Cup Final Against Al Sadd

Doha: Al Gharafa coach Pedro Martins has said his side is capable of defeating league champions Al Sadd in Saturday's Amir Cup final at Khalifa International Stadium. Speaking ahead of the 54th edition of Qatar's premier domestic cup competition, the Portuguese coach said his team was determined to retain the title it won last season after beating Al Rayyan in the final.

According to Qatar News Agency, Martins described the match as a closely balanced contest, noting Al Sadd's strength but insisting Gharafa also possessed "very strong" quality and a winning mentality, particularly in knockout competitions. He added that injuries to key players, including Joselu and Qatar international Mohammed Muntari, had affected the team's attacking output during the current campaign, but expressed confidence in the available squad.

Gharafa captain Yacine Brahimi said the players were proud to reach a second consecutive Amir Cup final and were fully focused on defending their crown. "We know we are facing a strong team, but we are motivated and will fight to win the title again," the Algerian midfielder said.

Gharafa, eight-time winners of the Amir Cup, are also seeking victory to secure qualification for the 2026-27 AFC Champions League Elite competition.
