The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, discussed today, Monday, with the European Union Ambassador to Baghdad, Thomas Seiler, the common files between Iraq and the European Union. Al-Hakim's media office stated in a statement that al-Hakim "discussed with the European Union Ambassador to Baghdad, Thomas Seiler, the common files between Iraq and the European Union, and stressed the importance of the European Union for Iraq, while calling for strengthening bilateral relations to serve the interests of both sides." The statement added that "al-Hakim affirmed his support and backing for government efforts, in cooperation with the European Union, in the files of combating terrorism, combating corruption and drugs, while explaining to the delegation that Iraq has a real experience in combating terrorism, which can be used by countries suffering from terrorism, whether through security or military threats." Al-Hakim stressed the importance of benefiting from the experiences of others in combating corruption, while renewing the call for the "trial of the century" for the crime of theft of the century and informing public opinion of its circumstances and those involved in it, as well as the importance of combating corruption by drying up its sources and using modern technology and electronic applications and bypassing the obstructive routine circles."
