The head of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, condemned the attack on the supreme religious authority in the person of the supreme authority, Sayyid Ali al-Sistani, stressing: "The supreme religious authority was and still is the safety valve for the Iraqi society and the entire Islamic nation."
Al-Hakim said in a statement: "We announce our strong condemnation and denunciation of what one of the Israeli channels did by publishing a picture of Imam Sayyid al-Sistani, and presenting him as one of the alleged targets of the usurping entity," indicating that "this behavior is a deliberate provocation of the feelings of millions of Muslims who see the religious authority as a symbol of unity and moderation."
He added: "The attempt to include the supreme religious authority in such speeches and media threats is a blatant and unacceptable assault on a figure who represents a symbol of wisdom and tolerance, and has been and continues to be the safety valve for Iraqi society and the entire Islamic nation, and this behavior only serves the agendas of the usurping entity," warning "against the consequences of continuing these actions that could lead to dire consequences for peace and security in the region." He called on the international community and media institutions to "condemn this dangerous act and reject such threatening messages."
