Doha: Qatari daily Al-Raya on Saturday described the Qatari-Saudi relations as a deeply rooted model of strategic integration and close fraternal coordination, founded on a shared destiny, intertwined interests, and a common vision for regional security and stability. The newspaper stressed that such coordination has become increasingly vital amid the sensitive challenges and rapid transformations facing the region, which require unified positions, the containment of crises, and the prioritization of wisdom and dialogue.
According to Qatar News Agency, in an editorial titled "Qatari-Saudi Coordination in Confronting Challenges," Al-Raya highlighted the telephone call HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani received from HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The paper said the call reflected the depth of the fraternal ties between the two countries and their shared commitment to maintaining consultation and coordination on regional and international issues in a manner that serves the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples and reinforces regional security and stability.
The editorial emphasized that relations between Doha and Riyadh have evolved beyond conventional diplomatic ties into a comprehensive strategic partnership operating at the highest political levels, driven by both leaderships' determination to consolidate regional stability and strengthen joint Gulf and Arab action.
Al-Raya underlined that the significance of continued coordination and the exchange of views lies in their role as a safeguard for protecting national interests and promoting regional peace and security.
The newspaper further noted that Qatar and Saudi Arabia demonstrated strong political resolve and a responsible approach in addressing the security, political, and economic developments that accompanied recent regional crises. Through wisdom and foresight, the two leaderships succeeded in overcoming challenges and advancing de-escalation and mutual understanding, based on the firm conviction that regional stability can only be achieved through cooperation, coordination, and prioritizing collective interests above all else.
The editorial added that Doha and Riyadh continue to strengthen their role as key partners in supporting regional security and building a more stable and prosperous future for the peoples of the region.
It also highlighted the active diplomatic efforts undertaken by Qatar and Saudi Arabia at both the regional and international levels to contain the repercussions of escalating tensions in the region, particularly the crisis between the United States and Iran.
The paper noted that Doha and Riyadh recognize that Gulf security and regional stability are closely tied to de-escalation and the pursuit of political and diplomatic solutions. Consequently, both countries have intensified consultations and contacts with regional and international actors to prevent any confrontation that could threaten regional and global peace and security.
The editorial concluded by stressing that both countries attach particular importance to safeguarding freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Doha and Riyadh, it said, regard freedom of navigation as a fundamental and non-negotiable principle, warning that any attempt to close the Strait or use it as a bargaining tool would only deepen the crisis, given its critical importance to the global economy and international energy security.
