Doha: Al-Raya said that the significant support and international welcome for the joint statement issued by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and U.S. President Joe Biden, regarding the necessity of reaching a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, as a global acknowledgment of the diplomatic efforts led by Qatar in partnership with others to end the war in the region. In its editorial today, the newspaper emphasized that the call included in the statement to resume negotiations on Aug. 15 in Doha or Cairo to finalize the ceasefire agreement in Gaza would facilitate the sustainable entry of aid and the establishment of a prisoner exchange agreement. The newspaper said that after 10 months of aggression and the catastrophic crisis in Gaza, Qatar, along with its partners, aimed to hold the world and above all, the parties involved in the crisis accountable for stopping the senseless war and the war crimes in Gaza, and to listen to reason. This war has brough t nothing but destruction, killing, displacement, and severe economic crises. It added that there can be no security or stability without engaging in serious negotiations. The paper added that the return of hostages and detainees will only happen through a political solution, as military pressure tactics will not be effective in achieving negotiating gains. The situation cannot afford any delay if the suffering of all those affected by this crisis is to be alleviated. The newspaper stressed that resolving the Gaza crisis and stopping the fighting could defuse the threat of a regional explosion that would bring a real catastrophe to the area. The dangerous escalation by Israel on multiple fronts in the region threatens an all-out war that would leave nothing and no one untouched. It also emphasized that Israel must realize that it cannot break the Palestinian people's will to resist. The continued massacres and repeated displacement of Gaza's residents have not solved the problem, nor has Israel been able t o retrieve its hostages. Al-Raya concluded by saying that the world has reached a firm conviction that there is no military solution to the Gaza crisis. What has been happening in the region for the past 10 months is a profound failure of humanity, as it has failed to protect the innocent. The question remains when the leaders of the occupation will realize that serious negotiations without preconditions are in everyone's best interest. The international alignment behind Qatar's mediation with its partners should motivate everyone to choose the political solution to end this nightmare. Source: Qatar News Agency
