Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani met today, Thursday, with the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Iraq, Ahmed al-Ruwaidi. Al-Sudani, through the ambassador, offered his condolences to the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian people in general, on the martyrdom of the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, in a treacherous Zionist aggression that targeted the martyr's residence in the Iranian capital, Tehran." Al-Sudani referred in an official statement "to the jihadist history of the deceased, and his positions against the occupation, which were crowned with martyrdom, joining all those who the Palestinian people have presented and continue to present, on the path to achieving freedom, and affirming the right to land and history, renewing Iraq's firm and principled position towards this right, based on the bonds of humanity, blood and religion." He expressed his "strong condemnation of the criminal act, which aims to spread conflict in the region and threaten regional and i nternational peace, stressing the danger of underestimating the sovereignty of states and the necessity of respecting it, and that Iraq has demanded, and continues to demand, that the UN Security Council, UN organizations, and major countries take responsible steps to stop the actions of the Zionist entity and stop the genocide against the struggling Palestinian people."
