The Prime Minister expressed his condolences to those who fell victim to the aggressive bombing of the agency's relief workers, stressing that targeting UNRWA headquarters in Gaza is part of the war of extermination committed against the Palestinians, pointing out that the world today is facing a new humanitarian catastrophe in Rafah, due to the occupation's intransigence and its insistence on killing more civilians. Al-Sudani reiterated his emphasis on Iraq's firm and principled position towards the Palestinian right, indicating that the suffering of the Palestinians will double with the targeting of Rafah, as they no longer have a safe place to seek refuge. For his part, Lazzarini expressed his appreciation for the government's decision to continue providing assistance to UNRWA. He also praised the role of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society and the political and financial support. He reviewed the attacks on UNRWA and the targeting of its headquarters, and the fact that many of it s employees in Palestine face arrest and torture by the occupation authorities with the aim of cutting off this important outlet for humanitarian assistance.'
