The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, received today, Sunday, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent High Electoral Commission, the head of the electoral district and members of the Board of Commissioners.
During the meeting, Al-Sudani was briefed on the ongoing preparations for holding provincial elections as scheduled next December.
The Prime Minister affirmed the government's unlimited support for the work of the Electoral Commission in order to ensure fair and transparent local elections, stress the importance of broad popular participation in them, and make every effort for the success of this democratic practice, and for its results to be the true expression of the will of the Iraqi people.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners referred to the escalation of the pace of work by the Electoral Commission, and the implementation of the requirements for the success of the electoral process in all governorates of Iraq, including Kirkuk.
While the head of the electoral district confirmed the completion of more than 90 percent of the operational schedule, which means the Commission's readiness to hold the elections on time.
