Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani embarked on an official visit to Tehran, Iran, where he engaged in a series of high-level discussions with Iranian leaders.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Amir met with HE President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, at the Republican Palace, where they discussed potential cooperation in commercial and economic sectors.
HH the Amir also held a meeting with HE Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, at Maqam Rahbri. During these discussions, the Amir emphasized the importance of exploring new avenues for collaboration and enhancing regional prosperity and stability. Before concluding his visit, HH the Amir stated that he and President Pezeshkian would work towards further coordination to realize shared aspirations.
In addition to his diplomatic engagements in Iran, HH the Amir received a message from HE Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al Burhan. The message focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Qatar and Sudan.
Qatar’s active participation in international meetings was further highlighted with the General Tax Authority attending a GCC tax departments meeting in Kuwait and Qatar’s involvement in the Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Morocco. Moreover, Qatar participated in the inaugural meeting of the GCC Cybercrime and Information Technology Committee held in Riyadh.
Within Qatar, HE Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Saoud Al-Thani chaired a regular Cabinet meeting, and HE Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohammed Al-Thani engaged in discussions with counterparts from Turkiye, Pakistan, Sweden, Kuwait, and Palestine. Additionally, HE Secretary-General of MOFA Dr. Ahmed Al Hammadi met with UN Assistant Secretary-General Alexandre Zouev, who is visiting Qatar.
Other notable meetings included HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan Al Muraikhi’s discussions with Sierra Leone’s Foreign Minister, and HE Attorney-General Dr. Issa Al Nuaimi’s meeting with UN’s Zouev. Lastly, Qatar Media Corporation’s Chairperson Sheikh Hamad Al-Thani met with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Media on the sidelines of the Saudi Media Forum in Riyadh.
