An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale struck this morning, off the southern coast of New Zealand in the waters of the Pacific Ocean.
The US Geological Survey said the quake occurred at a depth of 33 km near the Auckland Islands in southern New Zealand.
The New Zealand authorities did not issue any warning of the danger of a tsunami as a result of the earthquake, nor did they announce the recording of human or material losses immediately.
