Arab League Condemns Israeli Ban on MSF Operations in Gaza Strip

Doha: The Arab League: has issued a warning regarding the Israeli occupation authorities' decision to prohibit Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) and other international organizations from operating in the Gaza Strip. The League highlighted the severe consequences of this action, which could result in depriving hundreds of thousands of people of essential medical care in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

According to Qatar News Agency, this warning was communicated during a meeting between Arab League Assistant Secretary-General and head of the League's Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector, Ambassador Faed Mustafa, and a delegation from MSF led by Reem Mougheith, the Regional Humanitarian Representative for the Middle East and North Africa at MSF.

The Assistant Secretary-General urged the international community to exert pressure on the Israeli authorities to remove any bans affecting humanitarian, relief, and medical organizations in the occupied Palestinian territories. He emphasized that such restrictions would halt life-saving medical assistance for hundreds of thousands of individuals.

Ambassador Mustafa stressed the critical role that international organizations play in operating and supporting field hospitals, primary health care centers, emergency shelter responses, water and sanitation services, and nutrition stabilization centers for children suffering from severe acute malnutrition in the Gaza Strip.

He further noted that the cessation of these services would severely impede the ability to address urgent needs, exacerbating the health and humanitarian crisis in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
