Sahar Rashid Al-Mannae, Undersecretary at the Social Development Ministry stressed Bahrain’s strides in protecting child rights stipulated in the constitution.
She stressed Bahrain’s efforts to pass laws and legislations to ensure children a secure and a safe environment for their upbringing.
Al-Mannae made the statement as she addressed a webinar on preventing gross violations against children in armed conflicts.
The session was chaired by the State of Qatar as part of the 42nd session of the Arab League social affairs minister’s council which was held remotely with the participation of the Arab League and specialized international organizations.
The webinar featured two sessions which focused on ways of preventing grave violations against children in armed conflicts, while the third sessions stressed the importance of strengthening regional cooperation to combat violations.
In their final statement the delegation issued a number of recommendations stressing the importance of full commitment to protecting Arab child rights through laws, policies and programs centered on children.
The statement urged the international community to provide protection for children in war-torn regions and those living under occupation.
“Children and youth are the key peace and security in the world”, said the statement stressing the importance of investing in these age categories.
The statement also welcomed the initiatives of the Kingdom of Norway to organize an international meeting on protecting children in war-torn regions, scheduled to be held in Oslo on June 5-6.
