An earthquake measuring 3.3 on Richter scale hit Tizi Ouzou in eastern Algeria.
The Algerian Research Centre in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics (CRAAG) said in a statement that the earthquake occurred 5km southwest of Tadmit, Tizi Ouzou.
No injuries or material losses have been reported so far.
Algeria is exposed from time to time to earthquakes, the most severe of which was the magnitude 6.8 earthquake that hit Boumerdes Province, north of the country, in May 2003, killing 2,277 people and causing massive damage.
