Manama, Reham Abdulhamid Mahmoud Ibrahim Khalil, Egyptian Ambassador to Bahrain, affirmed that the convening of the Arab Summit is considered a key event that is held at a critical time for the region. The people of the region are anticipating the outcomes of the Bahrain Summit, she said, adding that choosing the kingdom to host it highlights the role of Bahrain and the Arab confidence in its commitment to consolidating unity. In an interview with Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the Egyptian Ambassador said support of the kingdom for joint Arab action is a fundamental of its foreign policy, under the leadership by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. She said this has been reflected in its initiatives and positions in defending Arab causes. Ambassador Khalid recounted the recent Egyptian-Bahraini official talks held in Cairo on April 17, which underscored the significance of joint Arab coordination. She noted that the discussions between His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and His Majesty the Ki ng during His Majesty's visit to Cairo focused on coordination on the agenda of the upcoming summit, shaping unified Arab positions, and emphasising the importance of maintaining peace, security, and regional stability. The ambassador said that the summit's agenda addresses many important and pressing developments, such as the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip. She said that the Arab nation is hoping to reach a solid and unified position that would contribute to ending the suffering of the Palestinian people and establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, to achieve security and stability in the region. The Egyptian Ambassador said that the summit would discuss crises in some Arab countries, Arab economic integration, Arab solidarity, and promoting the values of tolerance and coexistence to counter extremism and division in the region.
