Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron reiterated, in a phone conversation on Saturday, the importance of restoring calm through the immediate ceasefire and getting humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement, the Egyptian Presidency reported that both presidents stressed the need for the two-state solution as the sole guarantor to reach an enduring peace in the region.
In addition, the two sides discussed bilateral ties as part of the preparation for the expected visit of the French President to Egypt. They explored the most important topics of cooperation on the visit’s agenda, and avenues for enhancing this cooperation in accordance with the two nations’ interests, including the possibility of convening a trilateral Egyptian-French-Jordanian summit in Cairo during the French President’s visit to Egypt.
