Bethlehem - Ma'an Report - Hamdi Tahboub, Chairman of the Electricity Regulatory Council, said that the recent decision regarding the clearance certificate is in the interest of the citizen. Tahboub added in his interview with Ma'an that the decision came after complaints from citizens who had settled their debts with electricity companies about the disruption of their interests as a result of waiting for long periods, as the ministries refuse to grant them the service until a new list is sent that includes his name stating that he has obtained a clearance from the electricity distribution companies. However, the new circular is to suffice with presenting the clearance from the distribution companies that grant him the service without the need to wait for the issuance of a new list of names, which may take weeks. Tahboub confirmed that the decision includes 1% of consumers who have accumulated debts and are subject to procedures according to the Cabinet decision issued previously in 2014 in particular, and there is no new decision or request for any new procedures, but rather the aim is to reduce the time required for the citizen to obtain the service after correcting the situation. Tahboub explained that the list of citizens included in the decision are those to whom the distribution companies sent several notices of the need to pay the debts accumulated on them, and there was no response, and it includes citizens, companies, and factories.
