Amsterdam: Five people were injured in a stabbing attack in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam on Thursday.

According to Qatar News Agency, Dutch police said in a statement that the stabbing took place near Dam Square in central Amsterdam, and that one person has been arrested. “A motive is currently still unclear, but part of our investigation,” the police said in a post on social media.

Local media reported that police cordoned off the area and multiple ambulances have responded to the event. A trauma helicopter called to the scene has landed on the square.
