Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein stressed that the increasing conflicts and disputes require to adopt multilateral diplomacy. A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Hussein participated in the meeting of the Group of Friends of Mediation at the ministerial level, held on the sidelines of the high-level week of the work of the United Nations General Assembly in its seventy-ninth session in New York. The minister stressed, in his speech during the meeting, that the increasing conflicts and disputes require to adopt multilateral and effective diplomacy to activate mediation efforts, and replace the language of wars and violence with the language of dialogue and peace, while seriously striving to achieve regional and global stability. According to the statement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs called on the countries of the Friends of Mediation Group to work closely with the parties to the conflict and the countries offering assistance in facilitating dialogu es with the aim of ending the conflict in the Middle East and dismantling its elements based on an approach that benefits all parties. He stressed the need to activate preventive diplomacy options and address the roots of the conflict before it occurs, while adhering to the principles of international law, the most important of which is non-interference in the internal affairs of countries and respect their sovereignty, praising the initiative of Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and his dedication to raising awareness of the importance of building peace, and his call to support the Peacebuilding Fund.
