Ghanem meets new Canadian representative, stresses need to stop genocide

Ramallah-Ma'an- Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governor Dr. Laila Ghanem met with the new Canadian representative to the State of Palestine, Graham Dalles, and a delegation from the Canadian representation. She discussed with them the latest developments in the situation in Palestine, especially those related to the war of extermination waged by the occupation against our people in Gaza and the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem. During her meeting with Datels in her office in Ramallah, Ghanem stressed the necessity of stopping the genocide and ethnic cleansing and their disastrous consequences, especially the starvation war against our people in the northern Gaza Strip, to save the lives of the remaining Palestinian people. She spoke about the difficult reality in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate and the northern governorates, as a result of the ongoing siege and the repeated raids by the occupation army, in addition to the escalation of the ongoing terrorist attacks by settlers on the villages of the gov ernorate coinciding with the olive harvest season, especially in Umm Safa, Al-Mughayyir and Al-Lubban Al-Gharbi. She pointed out that the Palestinian people are facing the most heinous crimes of murder, starvation, displacement, and the burning of children and women in displacement camps, in addition to the financial and economic siege to destroy all the components of the establishment of the Palestinian state, in front of television screens and in full view of the unjust world that does not move a finger towards these crimes. She welcomed Canada's late shift in position towards the genocide targeting our people, and the re-funding of development projects, stressing the importance of political support alongside financial support in international forums to stop the ongoing massacres of the occupation, and not to be satisfied with field visits and writing reports. In turn, Datles affirmed his country's support for the two-state solution, Canada's rejection of the crimes and violence of the settlers against t he Palestinian people in the West Bank, and its concern over the attacks targeting Palestinian civilians in Gaza, indicating his country's determination to continue supporting the Palestinian people in the areas of youth, women, and security, noting that Canada has taken punitive measures against the settlers and is working to take more of these measures, and that the Canadian representation is making great efforts to enable Palestinian farmers to harvest their olives in the areas targeted by settlements.
