Manama, Abdulla Khalil Buhejji, the Director-General of Bahrain News Agency (BNA), participated in the 23rd meeting of the heads of news agencies of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held virtually. The meeting discussed enhancing cooperation among GCC news agencies to promote their role in supporting GCC developmental efforts. Buhejji emphasised the importance of the meeting, which coincides with holding Bahrain's hosting of the 33rd Arab Summit for the first time, amidst pressing challenges that the region and the world is facing. He underscored the importance of the cooperation of the GCC news agencies in supporting media coverage of the preparatory meetings and the meeting of the Arab League at the Bahrain Summit. Buhejji also reviewed the preparations of the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) aimed at providing media materials on the proceedings of the Arab Summit and its outcomes. The heads of news agencies of the GCC countries affirmed their commitment to supporting BNA through the exchange of n ews and media materials related to the 'Bahrain Summit' and its outcomes. They highlighted the role of the media in shedding light on the historic importance that the summit holds in achieving Arab aspirations. The meeting approved topics on its agenda, including: the study submitted by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on misleading and false news, the joint application of Gulf news agencies, and the strategic plan for joint media cooperation of the GCC countries (2023-2023). The officials agreed to hold training courses in GCC news agencies and a photo exhibition during the 45th session of the Supreme Council of GCC leaders.
